To improve the quality of life by promoting education and responsible technologies, and by fostering mutually beneficial, collaborative relationships between communities.
Who We Are
Education for Prosperity was formed in October 2004 when the group “Friends of Pichon” merged with the existing non-profit, Museum of Science and Art (MOSAA) for World Preservation. Friends of Pichon had organized in 1999 to support development activities in southeast Haiti. MOSAA was founded in 1995 to support humanitarian services in mid-Michigan, including a computer loan program for people with disabilities and assistance to victims of domestic abuse. With this merger, objectives and talents were combined and MOSAA was renamed “Education for Prosperity.”
What We Do
The mission of Education for Prosperity is to provide programs of education and service that increase prosperity in disadvantaged communities—locally and internationally—by connecting them with advantaged communities in relationships of mutual benefit and learning. We have successfully supported an elementary school in the village of Pichon, Haiti, made numerous presentations to Michigan schools and service clubs about Haiti, made presentations on domestic violence awareness, and refurbished computers for use by people with disabilities.
How You Can Help
There has been a constant need for financial resources for paying teachers and buying educational materials for the school in Pichon. We, with the help of students/staff of Chicago’s Mother McAuley High School, are also preparing to install solar panels so Pichon can have electricity. In addition, we have initiated a project to plant Jatropha to help reclaim Pichon’s depleted soil and to provide feedstock for the production of biofuel so that local capacity for economic self-sufficiency can be significantly strengthened. Your contributions to Education for Prosperity, P.O. Box 302, East Lansing, MI 48826, will be greatly appreciated.
