Seattle Concert Raises $3,000 for Lekol Pa Nou
Maggie McClellan, Director of the Phinney Neighborhood Chorus. Taken in June 2006, shortly after the Chorus's fund-raising concert for Lekol Pa Nou.
The Phinney Neighborhood Chorus--based in Seattle, Washington--has hosted annual fund-raising concerts for Lekol Pa Nou--based in Pichon, Haiti--for several years. The Chorus's June 17, 2006 concert was yet another spirited success. EfP Director, David Smith, was present to speak about the school and its wide-ranging network of supporters. He also showed photographs of the school, students, staff and parents to the audience that filled the United Methodist Church, which hosted the concert. "It was a spirited gathering and such a delight to hear the Chorus perform two Haitian songs, in Creole," Smith said. "I have enjoyed the radiant and generous hospitality of dear Pichon friends in each of my visits to Haiti. As I sat in that warm Seattle church listening to the Chorus singing in Creole, I saw that wonderful Haitian spirit reflected in the singers faces as hearts and cultures embraced. It was wonderful!"We applaud the Phinney Neighborhood Chorus both for raising nearly $3,000 in support of Lekol Pa Nou and for connecting the hearts of neighbors and friends to the children of Pichon.
